About the Program
The Department of Computer Science offers an academic program for earning a doctor of philosophy degree(in Computer Science) through conducting research that ends in writing a dissertation and studying some courses. The program aims at: providing scientific cadres in the suggested specialisation in order to achieve self-sufficiency in the future, Enriching and entrenching current scientific concepts through doing studies and research that seek to promote the theoretical and practical knowledge by following scientific style in research and technology. The program also aims to develop the applied skills of the graduates of the Computer Science Department who are working in different fields (academic / industrial / services) by familiarizing them with the latest developments and techniques in the field of advanced computer science, computer networks and software engineering.

Provide graduate students with substantial research, technical, and scientific capabilities to
develop innovative solutions and conduct research of exceptional quality in sub-disciplines of
Computer Science to address the demand in academia, industry, and society.

- To provide graduate students with the knowledge, expertise, and ethical practices to
propose and explain solutions in at least one of the computer science sub-disciplines.

advancement, and the job market.

Regulations for Admission to the program of Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science
In addition to the General Admission Regulations put by Deanship of Graduate Studies, the following requirements should be satisfied:
Required Specialization
- Must hold a bachelor’s degree from a science-related college in computing or engineering.
- Must hold a master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or Information Systems from a computing-related college.
Workplace Approval
Full-time study is required.
Selection Mechanism
Selection will be based on the following criteria:
- Graduate General Aptitude Test: 20%
- Master’s GPA: 30%
- Written Exam by the Department: 30%

Research Potential of the Applicant: 20%, assessed by the department based on:
- Statement of Purpose provided by the applicant.
- Research Contributions (e.g., publications in peer-reviewed journals or conferences, or research contributions in the field of computer science).
- Applicants must achieve at least 75% of the total criteria to be accepted according to the proposed admission capacity. However, the department council has the authority to accept applicants with a lower score.
