ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The master’s program offered by the Department of Computer Science is considered one of the distinguished programs of the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology. The output of this program is considered an important enrichment of the academic and industrial community in the kingdom. Some of the program’s objectives include: providing specialists of high calibre in computer science, knowledge of computing systems, and advanced computing information as they are highly needed in executing developmental plans. The program also aims to orient students and prepare them to conduct more scientific research and develop it as well as complete their graduate studies.

PROGRAM MISSION

Provide outstanding educational and research experience to graduate students in the core and emerging multidisciplinary areas of computer science and produce distinguished researchers and graduates with professional, entrepreneurial, and innovative skills who serve the needs of the national labor market and society.

PROGRAM GOALS

  • To produce highly knowledgeable Computer Science graduates to pursue a higher degree or a career in research.
  • To collaborate with the local community in building exceptional solutions to meet their technical needs.
  • To prepare graduates with the knowledge and professional skills required for local industries and businesses.
  • To prepare graduate students to conduct quality scientific research and contribute to research projects at both local and international levels

PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES

Knowledge and Understanding:

  • K1: An ability to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of a particular subject area and broad knowledge of core areas in computer science.
  • K2: Interpret the knowledge and understanding of key computer science issues and demonstrate through appropriate research methods.

Skills:

  • S1: An ability to examine and articulate the scientific advances and limitations of results described in the computer science research literature.
  • S2: An ability to effectively communicate research proposals, solutions and results to a range of audience both verbally and in writing.
