Demand for computing professionals with expertise in information technology has grown in the past decade as a result of the increased demand in both public and private sectors for sophisticated technology tools, practices, and processes.
The Department of Information Technology offers a five-year academic program based on scientific foundations. The program aims to produce well-rounded computing professionals who can design, formulate, evaluate, and develop technological solutions within an organizational and societal context. Focusing on technological solutions for business and government organizations, the IT program offers courses that provide a range of technological skills for future IT professionals. The IT program offers a range of programming and problem-solving skills for future IT professionals who will work in academia or industry, serving business and government organizations.
This program builds on a set of university-required coursework in Islamic studies, and Arabic language, as well as a full academic Foundation Year that covers general mathematics and science foundational concepts. It also shares college-required fundamental computing coursework with other computing programs in the college.
It focuses on the analysis, design and development of technical solutions to support and run the information systems that rely on computers, particularly on applications and computer hardware.
To produce graduates who possess the right combination of knowledge and practical hands-on expertise to take care of both an organization’s information technology infrastructure and the users.
